Manipur Annual Plan 2008- 09

Manipur Annual Plan 2008- 09 was finalized at a meeting that was held between Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission and Shri Okram Ibobi Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur. The total size of Manipur Annual Plan 2008- 09 has amounted to Rs. 1660 crores. The areas of the state that have received attention from the Planning Commission are education, power, road, and health services.
A short note on Manipur Annual Plan 2008- 09:
Manipur Annual Plan 2008- 09 was approved at a meeting between the Chief Minister of Manipur, Shri Okram Ibobi Singh and Planning Commission Deputy Chairman, Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia on 21st January, 2008. The total amount of Manipur Annual Plan 2008- 09 came to Rs. 1660 crores and this includes, the assistance of around Rs. 550 crores for the projects that are especially important to Manipur.

Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission praised the state government for increasing the rate of development and also gave the assurance that shortage of funds would not be allowed to slow down the rate of development in Manipur.


The Planning Commission has given special attention to the infrastructure sector of the state and this includes the areas like power, health services, road, and education. It has also provided funds to improve the opportunities of employment in Manipur.

Shri Okram Ibobi Singh, the Chief Minister of Manipur has said that the state government was taking initiatives for expansion of area for horticulture, reducing deficit in production of food grains, raising per capita income to the national level and achieving the target of electrification of every village in Manipur by 2010-2011. He also said that Rs. 800 crores would be allocated in the budget for developing infrastructure in the state.
