Rajasthan Annual Plan 2008- 09

Rajasthan Annual Plan 2008- 09 was finalized in a meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission, Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia and the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Smt. Vasundhara Raje Scindia. The total amount of Rajasthan Annual Plan 2008- 09 that has been agreed upon came to about Rs. 14000 crores.
A glance at Rajasthan Annual Plan 2008- 09:
Rajasthan Annual Plan 2008- 09 was agreed upon in a meeting that was held between Smt. Vasundhara Raje Scindia, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission on 15th January, 2008.

The total size of Rajasthan Annual Plan 2008- 09 has been finalized at around Rs. 14000 crores and this includes the additional assistance of about Rs. 100 crores from the Central Government for the projects that are of special importance to Rajasthan.


Shri Montek Singh Ahluwalia, the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission praised the initiatives of the State Government in reducing fiscal deficit and revenue deficit of the state. Further, he appreciated the efforts of the Government of Rajasthan that has been undertaken in health care.

The State Government has also taken steps to ensure safe delivery and improve services of child health. It has also repealed the act of Urban Land Ceiling and Regulation and lowered the registration and stamp duty to around 8%.

Smt. Vasundhara Raje Scindia, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan briefed the Planning Commission on the performance of the plan and said that the state is giving emphasis to the social sector. The participation of the private sector in the social sector is being given a boost. She also mentioned the substantial growth in investments in Rajasthan. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan further said that efforts were being made to lessen the state's debt burden.
