The week witnessed the launch of brand new imported cars and multi-million investments made by global automobile biggies.

  • Mulsanne Launched For The Bentley Lovers In India
    With a price of ` 2.9, Bentley, the British luxury automobiles manufacturer has launched Mulsanne in India, the cars are set to roll out from October,2010. Targeted for the Bentley car connoisseurs in the Indian market, Bentley will come with a 6.8 litre twin turbo V8 engine, making a power output of 512bhp and producing 104kgm of torque. Quite hopeful about the future prospects of business of this British automobile major, regional director, Chris Buxton, is also contemplating to introduce the GTC Supersport Convertible.

  • Japan Automobile Giant, Nissan, Targets 1 Lakh Sell In India
    In order to launch nine models in India in the following two years, Japanese car manufacturer Nissan is planning to sell 100,000 cars in the Indian sub-continent. The sedan version of compact car, named, Micra, will be found in Indian roads by July. Kiminobu Tokuyama, who is the MD and CEO of Nissan Motor India Pvt ltd, is targeting to sell at least one lakh units of car within 2013 in India.

  • Automobiles Are Recalled For Repairing By Honda Motor Co.
    In an attempt to counter the problem of the braking system, more than around 344,000 Odyssey minivans and around 68,000 Elements small trucks will need to be repaired by the Honda Motor Co. According to this famed automobile company, if the problem is not solved then it can result in loss of braking power thereby leading to car crash. The automobiles which are recalled by Honda Motor Co. belong to the model years of 2007 and 2008. Honda spokesperson, Chris Martin feels that the brake pedals of the automobiles should be pressed nearer to the floor in order to stop the vehicles. The owners of these particular vehicles before going for the repairing should wait for the letter that will be sent by the company.

  • Sedan's '5 Series' To Roll Out Soon To Counter The Competition Laid Out By Mercedes
    Leading German automobiles manufacturer, BWM, is all set to launch sedan's latest version '5 series' in India. The aim behind the inauguration of this vehicle is to double the volumes and also to counter the increase in competition by other automobile biggies, Mercedes and Audi. Though the price is not yet set, the car will be launched in 2010 and will be make its global debut later this month.

  • ` 4,400 Crore Investment By Daimler On CV Plant
    An investment of ` 4,400 crore will be made by the Global automobiles giant Daimler over the next five years. Daimler Commercial Vehicle India (DCVI), which is the Indian subsidiary of this German automobile giant will set up a new manufacturing plant in Orgadam in Chennai. The company has already started a truck testing facility in Chennai. The proposed plant is said to have the capacity of 72,000 units. Set to spread over an area of 400 acres, this automobile plant will be manufacturing light, medium as well as heavy vehicles for commercial use. The vehicles will roll out of the plant by7 2012.

  • Electric Version Of Spark To Be Launched Soon
    By the end of 2010, Indians will soon drive with pride when the electric version of the small car 'Spark' will be launched by its manufacturing giant General Motors. This electric version, named, E-Spark will be the first to have four-door passenger car in the whole world. Coming slightly higher in price than the Spark, E-spark will have low operating costs.

  • Center To Erase Disparity In The Automobile Tax
    A constitutional provision will be put forward by the Center in order to end the broad diversity and lack of uniformity of the automobiles in India. The main idea behind this is rationalizing and brining uniformity in the sundry taxes along with the levies on vehicles like excise duty, road tax, toll tax and registration charges.
