The automobile industry in India has witnessed a rapid growth over the last couple of decades and in recent years it has also captured the attention of the whole world with some innovative products. INFAC has forecasted a 12-15% annual growth in the passenger car sales, 6-8% in commercial vehicles and around 10% in two wheelers. The automobile industry in India is one of the fastest growing industries at present. The Indian auto makers have stepped forward and placed the Indian automobile sector on a global platform. India is one of the largest markets in the world for automobiles and hence all the major automobile companies of the world sell their cars in the country.
The automobile sector has opened up various gates for employment opportunities in the country. It has now become one of the highest employing industries in the country providing employment to millions of Indians whether direct or indirect.
The automobile industry will be requiring more than 5 million employees in the next three years; this would be due to a result of the ever increasing demand for new vehicles. Of the 5 million jobs forecasted 25 % would be of the managerial level, 60% will be for skilled labour and the remaining for unskilled labourers.
The job market in the automobile industry also seems to be the one in which downsizing hardly exists.
Automobile companies do not like to do away with their employees because of the rigorous training and expertise they provide to them on the event of joining.
