Ashok Leyland's April sales up by 43 percent

Chennai-based commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland on Monday said that its volume sales for April 2015 surged 43 percent at 8,435 units in the month against 5,897 units in the corresponding month last year. The company, in a regulatory filing with the National Stock Exchange, said that its medium-high commercial vehicle sales during the month under review rose by 45 percent at 6,549 units against 4,523 units during April 2014. Light commercial vehicles sales went north by 37 percent at 1,886 units for April, this year compared to 1,374 units in April 2014. Last month, the company's sales grew by 24 percent at 12,754 units against 10,281 units sold in March 2014. Part of the Hinduja Group, the vehicle maker closed fiscal 2014-15 registering a 17 percent volume growth at 104,902 units compared to 89,337 units sold during 2013-2014. Source: IANS
Bajaj Auto commercial vehicle sales up 58 percent in April 2015

Two- and three-wheeler major Bajaj Auto said on Monday that it achieved its best ever sales figure in commercial vehicles for the month of April this year but its two-wheeler sales declined by five percent during the month. Unit sales of commercial vehicles rose steeply by 58 percent to 50,483 units during April 2015 compared to 31,893 in April 2014 which the company termed as "highest ever sales for any April". In a regulatory filing with the National Stock Exchange, the company's secretary J. Sridhar said that while the sales of motorcycles for the month under review declined by five percent at 2,85,791 units against 2,99,636 units during April 2014, its exports registered record performance for the month.
