In February 2007, the Beaverton (Ore.) sneaker Goliath, Nike offered the German National Soccer Federation a sum of USD 778 million to sponsor the soccer team of Germany for 10 years.

This step was taken up by the new chief executive, Mark Parker to make the competition between Nike and Adidas (the longtime sponsor of the German team) more rigid. Parker also declared in February 2007 that he will make the company grow by USD 8 billion within five years of time. This will be attained by implementing few renovations such as reshaping the management structure, reframing the relationship between Nike and its consumers, and setting up around 100 new stores of Nike all over the world within three years.

Nike Brand President Charlie Denson made a declaration in 2007 that Nike can reach a turn over of USD 23 billion by 2011 without any new acquisitions. The operations of Nike in India have grown outstandingly by 40% since 2006 by sponsoring the Indian cricket team. The executives of Nike had planned up for making large-scale investments in some potential billion-dollar markets such as Russia, India, and Brazil.

Nike declared the launch of a new range of products in the Indian market in 2007. One of the major products to be launched by Nike is eyewear and the company is also thinking over introducing golf goods and kids-wear in the country within the recent years to come. The major cause behind such a decision is that, India has an excellent market potential for sports wear and thereby Nike can earn in billions from the Indian market by launching various sports products in the country.

The business operations of Nike in India grow by 50% every year since its entry in India in the ear 2004 right after the entry of its chief competitor Adidas. Nike will also merge its wrist watch range with the eye-wears. Nike has planned to set up 75 more mono-brand outlets in the country besides having a presence in 150-odd multi-brand stores and over 600 mom-and-pop stores.
