Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad was founded by Mr. Dattanibapa (Shri Purshottam Damodar Dattani) and his contribution to this cooperative was instrumental for its success. Lijjat Papad is headquartered in Mumbai, India and has 67 branches along with 35 divisions across India. The main activity of this cooperative is manufacture of traditional Indian food items like Papad (Pappadums), Spices, Wheat flour, Detergent and Khakra (special type of pappadums).

The most striking aspect of this rural cooperative is that it is entirely employed and controlled by women, mostly based in rural areas.
