Chennai Petroleum Corporation, also known as Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) is an India-based petrochemical products manufacturing company. Chennai Petroleum Corporation was earlier known as Madras Refineries Limited and was established in 1965.
CPCL started its operations as a joint venture company between Government of India (GOI), AMOCO, and National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), with shares in the proportion of 74%:13%:13% respectively. At present, Indian Oil Corporation holds 51.88% and NIOC holds 15.40% of the company. The main business activity of Chennai Petroleum Corporation involves manufacture of petrochemical products like LPG, Motor Spirit, Superior Kerosene, Aviation Turbine Fuel, High Speed Diesel, Naphtha, Bitumen, Lube Base Stocks, Paraffin Wax, Fuel Oil, Hexane, and Petrochemical feedstock. Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited has 2 refineries with a cumulative refining capacity of 10.5 million Tons per annum. These refineries are -
