Godrej Industries Limited was set up in the year 1897 as apart of the Godrej group of companies. The company is the leading manufacturer of hydrocarbon intermediary products in India. Godrej Industries Limited supplies more than 24 industries. The company also manufactures vanaspati, bakery fats, and edible oils. It also has a medical segment which manufactures medicine based consumables. The Godrej Group was known as Godrej Soaps Limited and later it was divided into two segments the Godrej Consumer Products and the Godrej Industries Limited.

Major divisions of Godrej Industries:

• Chemicals division: The Godrej Industries Ltd. is one of the major producers of oleo chemicals such as fatty alcohols, glycerin, fatty acids, and surfactants. This segment has well-equipped units that are capable of manufacturing world-class products. There are 2 modern integrated manufacturing plants at Mumbai and Valia in Gujarat operated by this division. It is the leader in the market and many of its products are exported to different countries all over the world. The company has a superb network of distribution. It serves different industries such as pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, detergents, and plastics. • Vegoils division: This division produces a huge variety of vanaspati, margarine, edible oils, and bakery fats. It operates a technologically advanced manufacturing capacity in Mumbai. The company gives huge weightage on the quality of the product and the hygiene standards.
  
  
• Medical diagnostics division: The main area of focus of this division is biotechnology. It indulges in the business of products pertaining to medical consumables and diagnostic equipment. This division has joint ventures with the Becton Dickinson of USA, Snijders Analyser of Holland, and Nichols Institute of Diagnostics.
