Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Co. (GNFC) is one of the leading companies in the fertilizer industry in India. It started manufacturing fertilizers by setting up a Urea-Ammonia fertilizer complex in 1982.
The Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Co. Ltd.'s main activities are to produce and distribute chemicals, fertilizers, IT solutions, and electronic goods. The Fertilizers Co. of Gujarat Narmada Valley has a Urea plant which is the world's single largest stream plant and also an Ammonia plant which too is one of the largest in the world.
The main idea behind manufacturing fertilizers by the company is to make a broad range of fertilizers easily available to the community of farmers in India. In order to ensure fertilizers of the best quality for its customers, the Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Co. had set up a research and development center in 1986. A qualified team of technologists and scientists check and maintain the quality of fertilizers that are manufactured by the company.
In 2004-2005, the Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Co. Ltd produced 504,485 MT of Ammonia, 637,533 MT of Urea, 13, 079 MT of Formic Acid, and 135,020 MT of Acetic Acid. The total profit of the company in 2005- 2006, amounted to Rs 263.3 million which was an increase of around 28.6% in comparison to the previous year. The Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers Co. markets its fertilizers mainly in the states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.
