Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chem. (GSFC) has been set up in 1962, with the objective of offering to the customer the best products. The Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chem. Ltd. has been set up with the funding from the state government and the financial and public institutions.
The main activities of the company are to produce and distribute industrial products like Nylon and Caprolactam and fertilizers both Phosphate and Nitrogenous. The Fertilizers and Chem. Ltd of Gujarat State has three segments of business which are Nylon, Caprolactam, Fertilizer products, and other. In 1967, was commissioned the plants of the 1st phase which consisted of Urea, Ammonia-1, Sulphuric Acid, and Ammonium Sulphate plants. The 2nd phase of construction led to the expansion of Urea- II and Ammonia- II plants in 1969. The 3rd and 4th phase of growth led to the setting up of more technologically advanced plants.
The net sale of the Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chem. in 2004- 2005 stood at Rs 2607 crore, in 2005- 2006, it amounted to Rs 2831 crore, and in 2006- 2007, it increased to Rs 3319 crore. This shows that the sale of the various products of the State Fertilizers & Chem. Ltd of Gujarat has increased over the years. From 2003- 2004, it has implemented various schemes for energy conservation such as for the LBP distillation column buying a feed preheater and trimming the ammonia transfer pumps impeller.
