Facts about National Aluminum Company:

National Aluminum Company has increased the capacity of its bauxite mine from 4.8 million TPA to 6.3 million TPA. It is an opencast mine located at Koratpur in Orissa and facilitated with the latest technologies and bauxite extracted from here is used in the alumina refinery in Damanjodi, Orissa. The thickness of the ore in this mine is approximately 14 meters and has 16 square km area of deposit. The ore contains 45% of alumina deposit and only 2% of silica and the quantity of resource amounts to 310 million tons. The alumina refinery of National Aluminum Company started working in the year 1986 and has now been upgraded to produce 21,00,000 TPA of alumina instead of 15,75,000 TPA, which was its earlier capacity. The refinery is facilitated with 3 streams situated nearby and with fluidized bed calciners, modern mud disposal system, inter-stage cooling, and back pressure turbine.
