Kshitij Venture Capital Fund was launched by the Pantaloon Retail Company. The Kshitij fund for venture capital is the first fund of its kind for the retail sector in India.

The venture capital fund of Kshitij have been focusing on managing as well as investing in the shopping complexes and malls. It has been focusing more on the non-metropolitan cities because the scope for development in the retail sector is more in these regions. And as a result, the profit levels are also higher in these parts of the country. Kshitij Venture Capital Fund has been investing in projects that will go into commercial deployment in around 18-24 months.

The Kshitij Venture Capital Fund has decided to invest only in those mall SPV where it can secure the right to undertake property management and also get the majority stake. Kshitij Venture Capital Fund took this decision in order to make sure that international standards are maintained in the malls and also that retailers can get lease rentals which are affordable.

Kshitij Venture Capital Fund has been focusing on the development of large malls having an area of 3-5 lakh sq. ft. This has been decided because only malls of large sizes have been perceived to meet the demands of the moder-day consumers. The various brands of Pantaloon Group, such as Food Bazaar, Pantaloons, and Big Bazaar have benefited a lot from this fund for they have been able to acquire more outlets at cheap rates.
