Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange located in the city of Rajkot in the state of Gujarat is one of the regional stock exchange houses in the Indian stock market.

History

Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange or the SKSE, incorporated in the year 1989 got recognition from the Central Government and Securities and Exchange Board of India and was initially registered under the Companies Act, 1956 as a limited company.

By 1999-2000, there were above 400 broker members in the Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange who were doing huge volume on the floor of the stock exchange.

The member brokers comprise of:
1. corporate brokers
2. proprietor brokers
3. partnership brokers

  • Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange Securities Limited:

    The Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange in 1999 got the permission of the Securities and Exchange Board of India to get the membership of bigger stock exchanges like Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange by forming a subsidiary company. This would provide trading platform to the brokers of regional stock exchanges. The Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange floated a 100% subsidiary company namely Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange Securities Limited which acquired membership of Bombay Stock Exchange and National Stock Exchange and got Securities and Exchange Board of India registration. Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange Securities Limited is also a Depository Participant of Central Depository Services (India) Limited.

  • Corporatisation and Demutualisation Scheme:

    The Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange Association Limited was registered under the Companies Act, 1956 at the period of commencement as a company limited by guarantee and subsequently converted to a company limited by shares. According to the provisions of the Securities Contracts (Regulation) Act, 1956, also referred as SCRA, the Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange is needed to be corporatised and demutualised. The stock exchange of Saurashtra Kutch in a letter dated January 29, 2005 submitted a scheme for its corporatisation and demutualisation for approval to the Securities and Exchange Board of India , referred to as the SEBI. The Securities and Exchange Board of India approved the corporatisation and demutualisation schemes of the Saurashtra Kutch Stock Exchange in the same year.
