State Rural Business Hub Councils has been set up in the states of India under the initiative of the Confederation of Indian Industry and Ministry of Panchayati Raj. RBH State Councils have been established in order to bring about the all around development of the rural areas of the states.

Rural Business Hub State Councils are based on the unique concept of Public Private Panchayat Partnership (PPPP). They also follow the concept of Thai model One- Tambon- One Product (OTOP).

The Minister for Panchayat Raj or the Secretary of the Rural Department generally heads the state Rural Business Hub Councils. They are co- chaired by the chairman of the CII State Council. State Rural Business Hub Councils looks after the well being of many sectors that function in the rural areas of the states. The various rural sectors looked after by State Rural Business Hub Councils are:

  • Food processing
  • Horticulture
  • Animal husbandry
  • Biofuel production
  • Handicraft and hand loom
  • Diary farming
  • Fisheries
  • Rural tourism

The various objectives of State Rural Business Hub Councils are to work along with the state governments in order to bring about an all round development of the rural areas of the states. Further the various objectives of the Rural Business Hub State Councils are responsible for bringing in industries to improve the quality of the products that are available locally and to manufacture products that will be both internationally and nationally acceptable. State Rural Business Hub Councils objectives include setting up of such a mechanism through which the industries can procure directly agricultural products from the rural people. This would benefit the rural people and the industry for the rural people would get the right amount for their products due to the absence of the middlemen. The industry will also benefit, as they would get high standard and quality products in low procurement costs.

The various advantages of State Rural Business Hub Councils are that they have encouraged many companies to set up their industries in the rural areas of the states. This has generated a lot of employment opportunities for the rural people, which in its turn have given a major boost to their economic condition. Further the various advantages of RBH State Councils are that it has developed the infrastructure of the rural areas of the state by setting up R&D centers, cold storage facilities, model farms, soil testing units, tissue testing laboratories, and bio-control laboratories. The industries that have been set up in the various states due to the efforts of State Rural Business Hub Councils have brought with them the latest technology, agricultural inputs, skill and training development, good agricultural practices, marketing and branding, value addition, and standard and quality increasing measures. All this has helped the rural people of the states for their incomes have increased due to better quality, entrepreneurship development, less transaction costs, and increased production.

State Rural Business Hub Councils thus has taken several measures in order to bring about an all round development of the rural areas of the states. RBH State Councils must continue with its efforts so that the condition of the rural people in the various states improves even more.
