Chhattisgarh, earlier known as the Dakshin Kosala, is a favorite tourist destination in India. Located in the heart of India, Chhattisgarh’s capital is Raipur. Chhattisgarh Tourism has increased in recent times, due to the way in which the tourism board has packaged the tourist attractions of Chhattisgarh.

There are many things to be seen in Chhattisgarh which make for tourist delight. Chhattisgarh is often referred to as a tourist paradise for its exotic collection of flora and fauna, fairs and festivals, ancient architecture, rock painting, and plateaus among other things.

Although most of Chhattisgarh remains unexplored, Chhattisgarh Tourism has gained significant popularity in recent years. Therefore, Chhattisgarh Tourism takes pride in saying that it is a “Destination with a Difference”.

There are a lot of places to see in Chhattisgarh which is why tourists from all over the country come visiting it. The Hirakund Dam near Sambalpur can be accessed by bus. Raipur, the capital city, is well connected with all the major towns like Villai, Durg, and Bilaspuur.

The state is also known for its 3 national parks and 11wildlife sanctuaries. The best time to visit them is November-June. The evergreen sal forests and planted teak forests are among the chief attractions of Chhattisgarh. The national parks are a refuge to the endangered species like the Hill Manya, Wild Buffaloes, and many other species of animals and birds. The Kanger Valley, Indravati National Park, Udanti, Sitanadi, and Barnawapar Sanctuaries are very famous. These contribute about 12% share of the total Indian forests.

Chhattisgarh, apart from the beautiful ancient buildings and paintings, boasts of a very rich cultural heritage. Monuments or sites like Tala, Sirpur, Rajim, Bhoramdeo, Sheorinarayan, and Malhar represent the cultural heritage of Chhattisgarh. The Dusshera at Bastar and Madai are the most celebrated festivals.

A lot is being done to improve the infrastructure of Chhattisgarh Tourism in order to increase its revenue. Towards this, private sectors initiatives are being invited by the state government.

Chhattisgarh is endowed with natural beauty which makes it a tourist’s paradise. The waterfalls, dense forests, wildlife, and tribal diversity truly makes Chhattisgarh Tourism an experience to remember.

The Chitrakote Falls and Danteswari Temple are must sees for tourists. Apart from these, Bastar, Kawardha, and Amarkantak are also major tourist centers.

Chhattisgarh Tourism is well supported by roads, air, and railways. It is well connected with roads – all major places of Chhattisgarh are connected to the other parts of the country by National Highways 43 and 16. It has a very good railway network too. Bilaspur and Raipur are the major railway stations.
