Italian exports to India increased from US$ 814 million in 1997-98 to US$ 1088 million in 1998-99 but ever since then, Italian exports to India have been decreasing consistently. In 2000-01, Italian exports to India had dwindled to US$ 714 million and to US$ 406 million in 2002-03.
