Online Tax

Online Tax means e-filing of income tax returns by the people. Online Tax has started only in the last few years with the Internet being easily available everywhere. Online Tax helps people since Online Tax helps them e- file their income tax returns and also get income tax refunds.

The various benefits of Online Tax are that it is easy to use and is also very convenient for the people who would rather file their income tax returns from the comfort of their homes without having to stand in long lines to file their income tax returns. E-filing helps them save time, energy, and effort and hence the system has become quite popular. Another benefit of paying Tax Online is that a person can e-file his returns any time of the day whereas if he were to file his income tax return in the Income Tax office, he would have to do it during office hours.

Online Tax in India has been started by the Income Tax department and it has become a very popular mode of filing of income tax returns. In India, Online Tax can be paid by a person who has a net- banking account with the Axis Bank, Punjab National Bank, HDFC Bank, IDBI Bank, State Bank of India, or the Union Bank of India. Then the procedure for Online Tax in India is that the tax-payer has to select the challan that is relevant to him from the various challans that are available such as ITNS 281, ITNS 283, ITNS 280, and ITNS 282. Then the taxpayer has to enter either his TAN or PAN as applicable. This is then verified online to make sure that the entered TAN or PAN is valid.

The next step in the payment of Online Tax in India is that the taxpayer has to fill up the other details in the challan such as the address and name of the TAN, the accounting head under whose heading the payment is being made and also the name of the bank which will make the payment of the tax. The taxpayer then has to confirm the information that he has given after which he will be directed to the bank's net-banking site. After the taxpayer has entered the site, he has to enter the details of payment after which will be displayed a challan counterfoil which will contain information regarding the payment details, CIN, and also the name of the bank through which the e-payment has been conducted. This counterfoil is the proof that Online Tax has been paid.

Online Tax has become popular in recent years for it makes filing of income tax returns very easy for the people. The Income Tax department has been taking several steps to encourage Online Tax by providing more facilities for the people.
