The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai was started during 1981 to satisfy the increasing demand for educational institutes that dealt in management studies. The Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal set up the institute with financial assistance from the Narsee Monjee Educational Trust. It started off by being a management institute that was certified by the Mumbai University.

The NIMS itself is now among the leading universities and has courses or programs in the following disciplines:

Admission at Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies

Ph.D. Management Programme

Eligibility criteria:

  • Must have studied at a full time MBA, PGDM, or part time MBA – the duration of the full time courses should be at least 24 months
  • These programs should have been certified by AIU as equal in stature to an university MBA program or Masters Degree in commerce, sociology, economics, IT, statistics, engineering, and psychology or a professional program such as CA, CWA, and CS
  • Master's degree earned through correspondence or distance education will be considered ineligible
  • At least 60 percent or an equivalent grade at a qualifying examination
  • A minimum full time work experience of 5 years as an executive or supervisor – at least 2 years from this should be done after getting the Master’s degree. In case the candidates wish to avail the full time program the work experience related criteria will be exempted.

Selection procedure:

  • Send fees through demand draft of INR 2000 along with a statement of purpose, describing the probable research area, of two pages
  • Written Research Aptitude Test
  • Selected candidates to give presentation to experts on the basis of their statement of purpose and followed by an interview

Part Time MBA in Social Entrepreneurship/Diploma in Social Entrepreneurship

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates looking to avail the diploma program should be graduates and have a year’s work experience in the social sector as a NCC or NSS student, as a volunteer, or a part or full time employee in such an organization. Work experience will not be necessary in case of graduates with MA in Social Work or MSW/BSW.
  • Candidates willing to enroll in the MBA program should be graduates with 2 years’ experience in the social sector as a NCC or NSS student, a part or full time employee or as a volunteer in such an organization. Graduates who have MA in Social Work or MSW/BSW will not be required to have work experience.

Process of registration

  • Students can visit the official website of the deemed university and download the application form. Afterwards they will be required to pay the registration fee of 1000 rupees in a demand draft
  • They can also avail hard copies of the application forms at the accounts counter after submitting a demand draft of INR 1000.

Candidates will be selected through an essay test and a personal interview.

Management Programme for Executives

Eligibility:

  • Graduation from a recognized university with at least 45 percent marks along with work experience of 3 years following graduation as an executive
  • It should be full time employment and not as an intern or in projects only
  • Candidates who have graduated from a part time, correspondence, distance learning, or open school are deemed ineligible
  • Candidates with grades should get written information of the grades about their respective equivalent percentages

Candidates will be selected through personal interviews. In case of students who have registered online, they need to provide a demand draft of INR 1600 with a degree marksheet and certificate (convocation certificate), statement of purpose, and work experience certificate to the address mentioned below:

Full Time MBA

Students in the Full Time MBA programs are admitted through the NMIMS Management Aptitude Tests which are then followed by personal interviews and group discussions.

EPGDBM (Executive Post Graduation Diploma in Business Management)

Eligibility:

  • Graduates from a certified university or an equivalent institution that has been authenticated by the AIU and UGC with a minimum of 50 percent marks.
  • At least 5 years’ work experience following graduation as an executive or supervisor. It should be a full time job and should not include projects or internships.
