Karnataka Housing Board

Overview :
Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) was established under Karnataka Housing Board Act 1962 as a successor to Mysore Housing Board constituted in 1956.

The primary objective of Karnataka Housing Board is to devise schemes and carry out work as necessary for dealing with and satisfying the need for housing
and accommodation. With this directive, Karnataka Housing Board endeavors to provide housing to the people of Karnataka at affordable costs and it is therefore recognized as the most important agency for housing throughout Karnataka.

Karnataka Housing Board is headed by the Chairman and a 13 member Board. The Board consists of 8 official and 5 non-official members. The Housing Commissioner, appointed by the government is the Chief Executive and Administrative Officer of the Board and a member of the Board. The Act also provides for appointment of Chief Engineer (General Manager - Technical) and Secretary (General Manager - Administration & HR).

Activities

Restructuring and reforms:
In order to meet new challenges and changing needs of the people, Karnataka Housing Board was restructured and lot of new reforms have been carried out in its organizational structure and day-to-day working, as per the chief minister's directives.
