Updates of Mutual Funds News for the year 2007-2008

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has announced that it will fragment the reduction charges on close-ended mutual fund schemes. From 2008 onwards all mutual fund schemes under SEBI will meet their sales, marketing and other expenditures from the entry load.

SEBI has cleared the draft proposal for debt securities listing, simplified the disclosure rules for the existent debt securities and also eased out the registration process of capital market intermediaries.
  • UTI Mutual Fund has announced 35 % dividend under its open ended ELSS Scheme regulated by UTI Equity Tax Savings Plan.

  • HSBC Mutual Fund has decided to introduce an open ended equity scheme, HSBC Emerging Markets Fund, in order to invest in Indian equities and other emerging markets.

  • Quantum Mutual Fund will introduce an open ended exchange traded fund known as Quantum Gold Fund and it will be enlisted in National Stock Exchange (NSE) in order to bring forth tax returns which will comply with the performance of gold.

  • Debt returns have found few clients in the past few years by offering a three year return of 4 percent to 5 percent as a consequence of the growing interest rates.

  • Kotak Mahindra Mutual Fund has declared 60% dividend in its open ended equity scheme named as Kotak 30, in order to ensure a long-term capital appreciation from equity related securities.

  • ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund has launched a new close ended debt scheme named ICICI Prudential Fixed Maturity Plan-Series 42-13 Months Plan C in order to get returns by making portfolio investment of fixed income securities or debt instruments within a scheduled time frame.

  • The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has decided to permit short-selling by domestic and foreign institutional investors which would be effective from 1st February 2008.

  • DSP Merrill Lynch Mutual Fund has announced a maiden dividend of 100% in its open-end sector equity scheme known as DSP ML Technology.Com Fund to bring forth high growth income through e-commerce, Internet firms and technology related shares.
