Nagaland Tourism is one of the major aspects of the state of Nagaland. Nagaland presents an interesting and unique experience to tourists from India and abroad.

Nagaland covers an area of 16,488 sq. km. It is situated in the Himalayas and is imbued with a typically hilly climate. As its geographical placement is conducive for natural beauty, the state exhibits superb scenic beauties and lush green landscapes in the Himalayan foothills. The rich vegetation is due to the heavy rainfall that Nagaland receives every year. The residents of Nagaland are known as the Nagas and they follow a single culture of traditions and language.

In winters, there is a steep fall in temperature to almost 5 degree Celsius which gradually rises in the summer months. The monsoon is heavy in this state with an average annual rainfall of over 300 cm. Overall, the climate is pleasant in Nagaland and tourists come visiting round the year.

  • Kohima is the capital of the state, and the main city. It provides the tourists with a wide array of activities and sight-seeing.
  • Kohima War Cemetery is a memorial for the soldiers.
  • The State Museum attract tourists for its unique collection of items related to the culture of Nagaland
  • Dzukou Valley is a place with luxuriant green landscape where tourists can indulge in adventure activities such as trekking, hiking, and river rafting.
  • Japfu Peak is a trekker's paradise where tourists may take a trekking trip.
Nagaland is the land of festivals and since it is inhabited by 16-odd tribes, each month of the year is replete with festivals belonging to one tribe or the other.

Nagaland handloom and handicrafts are famous all over India. The unique and beautifully hand woven tribal shawls, mekhlas, and hand bags are exquisite works of art. The craftsmen here also make household items from bamboo and cane.

Tourism in Nagaland is also boosted tremendously by the wide variety of flora and fauna are found in the state of Nagaland, some of which are rare and unique to the state.
