Anuga 2007 was held between 13th and 17th October, 2007 in the city of Koln, Germany and it was attended by a large number of companies from the Indian Food Industry. The objective of high participation from India was to bring in the latest technology into the industry and also investments from international food companies.

A short note on Anuga 2007:


Anuga 2007 was held for five days from 13th October to 17th October, 2007. The venue of Anuga 2007 was Cologne Exhibition Center which is located in the city of Koln, Germany.

Anuga is the most important food and beverages trade fair in the whole world.Anuga 2007 was the 29th edition of the fair and it was organized by Koelnmesse GmbH. It was visited by more than 163,000 people who had come from around 175 countries. In Anuga 2007, around 6,607 companies who had come from 95 countries made an exhibition of their products.

Indian presence in Anuga 2007:


52 exhibitors from India took part in Anuga 2007. The strong presence of Indian Food Industry in Anuga 2007 shows the prominence of India as an important source for processed foods as well as raw food material. According to the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Food Industry in India was worth around US$ 200 billion in 2007 and it is expected to increase to US$ 310 billion by 2015. The most important aspect of the Indian Food Industry that is the share of processed food is more than 32% of the total size of the food market in the country. The total amount of export of Indian processed foods came to around US$ 18 billion in 2006. All this shows that the Food Industry in India is growing at a very fast pace.

Indian companies attended Anuga 2007 in such large numbers, in order to increase the growth rate of the country's food industry by bringing in the latest equipments and technology in the packaging and food processing sectors. At Anuga 2007, Subodh Kant Sahai, the Minister of State for Food Processing Industries invited international food companies to make investments in the country's Food Industry in order to boost the infrastructure.
