Kopran Ltd was formed as a private firm in the year 1958. The company was founded by Ramanlal V Shah Sevantilal, Jivanalal M Shah, Chimanlal G Sheth and A Shah with the name Kopran Chemical Company Pvt. Ltd. Kopran Ltd was taken over by Chemo Pharma Laboratories Ltd.
When it started functioning as Semi Synthetic Penicillin or SSP player, it extended to become the biggest SSP player in the country. Presently this company is functioning as a healthcare firm. The company is also gradually evolving as research institution, emphasizing mainly in drug discovery, new molecules synthesis and polymer technology.
Kopran Ltd has not only earned recognition in the Indian subcontinent, the company has presence in Middle East and Africa.
Kopran Research Laboratories Ltd or KRLL, which is a division of Kopran Ltd, has the recognition of Department of Science and Industrial Research or DSIO, Government of Idnia.
