Birla Corporation Limited , is one of the premier Company of the M.P. Birla Group. It started as a Jute Manufacturing Company in 1919, and subsequently transformed it to a leading multi-product corporation covering varied business sectors.

Birla Corporation has been awarded with a number of accolades and awards in all sectors. The cement units have received many prestigious awards for productivity, pollution control, energy performance and worker's education like - "Lal Bahadur Shastri Memorial National Award" for Excellent Pollution Control Implementation by Chanderia Cement Works in 2002-03.

Activities:

Birla Corporation product-line includes manufacturing of -

  • Cement – has seven plants, with cumulative capacity of 5.8 million tons. After the completion of the ongoing expansion projects, the capacity will increase to 7 million tons. It owns brands like Khajurao, Chetak, Samrat and Birla Cement.
     
  • Jute goods – produces 120 tonnes of a varied jute products like Jute yarn, Floor & Wall Covering,Lino Hessian, Decorative fabrics, Nursery cloth, Scrim, Jute Carpets, Non-Woven Jute Felt, Hydro-Carbon Free bags/cloth, D.W. Canvas, Carpet Backing cloth, Hessian cloth/bags and Sacking bags/cloth .
     
  • PVC floor covering – or Vinoleum capacity runs to 48,60,000 sq meters of Cushion Vinyl and PVC sheets.
     
  • Auto trims (jute felt-based car interiors)– offers door trims, interior trims, package trays,felt, carpet and insulators for all most all major car makers of India.
Birla Corporation has 3 subsidiaries Assam Jute Supply Company Limited, Talavadi Cements Limited and Lok Cements Limited. Moreover, Birla Corporation is also in to the business of Iron and steel castings .

Performance:

Birla Corporation has registered a turnover of ` 143344 lakhs for the year ended 31st March 2005-06. Birla Corporation has posted Net Profit to the tune of ` 12576 lakhs for the year ended 31st March 2005-06.
