TVS Motor Company
The TVS Motor Company is third largest company manufacturing two-wheelers in India and among the top ten in the world. It is a part of the TVS Group established by T.V. Sundaram Iyengar. Since the launch of its first moped on Indian roads, TVS Motor Company has commanded its authority in India's two-wheeler market. The company previously had a collaboration with Suzuki Motors of Japan and was known as TVS Suzuki which ceased to exist after 1997.
Activities
TVS Motor Company has been actively engaged in production of an impressive range of two-wheelers that have easily captured the hearts of the consumers of all generations and all segments of the society. The following is the list of its commendable initiatives:
TVS 50 - India's 1st two-seater 50 cc moped was launched in August, 1980
TVS Scooty India's 1st indigenous 100 cc variomatic scooter was launched in June, 1994
Shogun India's 1st catalytic converter enabled 110 cc motorcycle was launched in December,1996
Shaolin India's 1st 5-speed motorcycle was launched in October, 1997
TVS Fiero India's 1st 150, cc 4-stroke, motorcycle was launched in April, 2000
TVS Victor India's 1st 110, cc 4-stroke, indigenously designed and manufactured motorcycle was launched in August,2001
TVS Centra A world class, 4-stroke,100 cc motorcycles fitted with revolutionary VT-i engines for best in class mileage was launched in January,2004
TVS Star A 100 cc economical motorcycle, ideally suited for rough terrain was launched in September,2004
TVS Apache Named Bike of the year for the year 2006 was launched in November,2005
Performance
Turnover:On January 25, 2007 TVS Motor Company recorded a growth of 8% and reported a turnover of Rs. 952.98 crore for the third quarter ended December 2006 compared to Rs. 883.38 crore recorded for the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The turnover in the 9-month period ended December 2006 was Rs. 2981.35 crores compared to Rs. 2445.34 crores, recording a growth of 22%
Net Profits:However, TVS Motor's net profit declined 63.1% to Rs 11.46 crore in Q3 December 2006 from Rs 31.06 in Q3 December 2005. Sales inched up 7.3% to Rs 935.41 crore in Q3 December 2007 (Rs 871.40 crore).

TVS Motor Company has one of the most extensive network of over 500 dealers and 2500 service centers evenly distributed across the country.
