Performance

A strong growth across all its business divisions helped Wipro Ltd post its highest year-on-year growth in net profits in the last 12 quarters.

Net profits for the quarter-ending September 2004, grew 79 per cent to Rs 412 crore, much above analysts' expectations, compared to the Rs 230.2 crore earned in the corresponding quarter last year. Revenues for the quarter were up 44 per cent to Rs 1,979 crore (Rs 1,374 crore)

Wipro Infotech , in India , Middle East and ASPAC, IT business recorded a revenue growth of 45 per cent over the previous year. Revenues grew 36 per cent and the profit before interest and tax by 24 per cent on a year-on-year basis in the consumer care and lighting business. Looking ahead for the quarter ending March 2005, the revenue from the global IT services is expected to be about Rs. 1,600 crores..
