Vijayawada Development Authority is also known as the Vijayawada-Guntur-Tenali-Mangalagiri Urban Development Authority and was incorporated in the year 1975 by the Andhra Pradesh State Government. After Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam, this is the 3rd development authority of the state of Andhra Pradesh. With their corporate office being at Vijayawada itself, there are 3 branch offices in Guntur, Tenali, and Mangalagiri towns of Andhra Pradesh.v
Functional importance of the Vijayawada Development Authority:
The main operational feature of the Vijayawada Development Authority is their aim to provide housing facilities for all economic groups. The other significant functions of the Vijayawada Development Authority include:- to formulate the master plan and Zonal Development Plans for the area under development
- to construct commercial projects like business complexes, shopping areas, offices
- to build up an infrastructural support system like roads, bridges, satellite earth station
