The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) was established in 1974 under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973. The LDA has excelled in the development of Lucknow in terms of control and acquisition of land, housing constructions, and physical and social infrastructure in urban areas of Lucknow.
Expert social scientists, engineers, and planners at LDA have been working on various developmental projects with regard to land use, physical infrastructure, healthcare, and living environment in Lucknow. Various projects regarding infrastructural developments in the key sectors of Lucknow have been taken up by the development authority of Lucknow.
Water supply, sewerage and sanitation, solid waste management, drainage, and transportation – all these sectors have shown significant improvement in recent years due to the constant efforts of the LDA. The Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission has been working with the LDA for the purpose of urban development and efficient planning in the historical city of Lucknow.
