Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited

Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) is one of the major public sector fertilizer companies in India. In fact, it is considered the pioneer in using associated natural gas for producing nitrogenous fertilizer.

The total assets of BVFCL as on the 31st of March, 2007 were worth Rs. 86401.17 lakh, which exceeds that of the last year by nearly Rs. 10,000 lakh.
Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited:
In 2002, the Namrup Fertilizer Complex was bifurcated from the Hindustan Fertilizer Corporation Limited and came to exist as one of the important public sector fertilizer companies under the new name, Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited. There are in total, 3 production plants at Namrup, in the Assam’s Dibrugarh district. The discovery of surplus natural gas and oil in the Naharkatia-Moran region and Lakwa oil fields respectively, provided the incentive for setting up the third production unit of Namrup.

The Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited is well-known for the production of urea and ammonia. However, only urea is produced for the market under the brand name of Mukta Urea. Ammonia is produced as an ancillary product used as the raw material for producing urea. The marketing of the Mukta Urea largely depends on the cooperative network of the KRIBHCO, one of the important cooperative fertilizer companies. Other than this, the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited also has its own network of over 400 dealers, comprising the cooperative society, institutional buyers, and private traders.

Welfare Services of Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited:

The Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited has undertaken certain welfare measures like the introduction of hospital, schools, open stadium, indoor stadium, daily market, clubs, and other facilities such as drinking water and so on. Moreover, Farmers’ Training Programs are conducted by BVFCL at rural levels for making the farmers aware of the various aspects of modern farming techniques.
