The Non-Resident Deposits are financial instruments that are being used by the expatriate or the NRIs to store their savings in Indian Financial Institutions while staying outside the country.

The Non Resident Deposits are the best sources for making foreign investment in India. The expatriate makes the deposits in different schemes offered by the Foreign Investment Promotion Board. Foreign Investment Promotion Board is the apex agency pertaining to the Non Resident Deposits.

The Non Resident Deposits are of three types-

  • Foreign Currency Non-Resident (Bank)
  • Non-Resident (External) Rupee Account
  • Non-Resident (Non-Repatriable) Rupee Deposits
