Aluminium foil is the thin metal leaf aluminium with a thickness of not more than 0.2 mm. However, most commonly used foils have thickness of 0.006 mm. There are a number of foil plants in India, as the majority of the aluminium producers also produce foils. Hindalco has three modern and well-equipped plants that produce foil. The plants are located in Kollur in Andhra Pradesh, Kalwa in Maharashtra and Silvassa in Dadra and Nagar Haveli.
Kollur
The 23-acre Kollur plant, located 35 km away from Hyderabad city in Andhra Pradesh, was originally owned by Annapurna Foils Ltd. Later in 2001, Indal took over the plant. Finally, in 2008, Indal merged with hindalco. A wide variety of high-quality foil and foil laminates are produced in the Kollur plant. Currently, the plant has a capacity of 4,000 tpa.
Kalwa
Started its operation in 1965, the Kalwa plant of Hindalco produces foil and packaging products. Located just 3 km away from the Thane town in Maharashtra, Kalwa has the capacity of 6,000 tpa. The plant also has advanced ERP-based material tracking system.
Silvassa
The 97-acre Silvassa plant of Hindalco is located in Dadra and Nagar Haveli, just 21 km away from Daman and 180 km from Mumbai. The plant has a capacity of 14,000 tpa aluminium foil.
India Foils Limited
India Foils Limited is Asia's one of the largest aluminium foil producers. It has its plant located on the bank of Hooghly River in Kamarhati, near Kolkata. Established in 1905, this plant has a production capacity of 19000 tpa.
Raviraj Foils Limited
Raviraj Foils Limited (RFL), a part of Raviraj Group, emerged as prominent player in aluminium industry through its production of aluminium foils. It has a production capacity of 7,200 tpa.
Marudhar Industries Ltd
Marudhar Industries Ltd produces aluminium foil in its Vatva plant, located in the state of Gujarat. It has a capacity of 3,000 tpa.
Jagdish Aluminium Private Limited
Jagadish Aluminium Private Limited is another player in aluminium foil industry. It has its plant located in Changodar in the state of Gujarat. It has a capacity of 1,200 tpa.

P G Foils Ltd
P G Foils Ltd has its plant located in Pipalia Kalan in Rajasthan. It has a production capacity of 3,500 tpa.
AMCO India Ltd
AMCO India Ltd is a leading player in aluminium foil industry. It has its plant located in Bhiwadi in Rajasthan with a production capacity of 2,400 tpa.
