Hindustan Zinc
Hindustan Zinc (HZL) was established in 1966, from the former Indian Metal Corporation, as an undertaking of the public sector. In 2002, the Indian government disinvested its stake in the Company Hindustan Zinc. Eventually, it became the part of Company Sterlite, which is under the Vedanta Group.
The aim of the Hindustan Zinc Company has been to make India self sufficient in Zinc manufacture; eventually turning the country into a global leader; and to create value for its investors, employees, and customers. The Hindustan Zinc Ltd., mines and refines ore in order to produce metals which are non- ferrous such as Silver, Zinc, and Lead. It also manufactures Sulphuric Acid, Phosphoric Acid, Super phosphate, Zinc and Cadmium Sulphate.
In India, the Hindustan Zinc Company is the leading producer of Zinc. It is also the most important Lead producer in the country. The company has production capacity of 411,000 tpa for Zinc, 85,000 tpa for Lead, and for Ore it has a production capacity of 6.2 Mtpa. The Zinc Hindustan's main products- Lead and Zinc- are used in the automobile and engineering industries. In order to market its products, the Company Hindustan Zinc has all over the country stock points.
The Hindustan Zinc Company's total income amounted to ` 16,570 million in 2005- 2006 and next year, it stood at ` 22,400 million. The net profit in 2005-2006 amounted to ` 8,740 million which grew to ` 11,850 million the following year. Hindustan Zinc, through constant up gradation of its technology and by investing in R&D, has been able to give the best quality of products to its customers.
Hindustan Zinc has become a leading producer of Zinc and Lead in the country. And as the quality of its products is the best that is available in the market, the company has witnessed growth in its profit levels.
