Duphar-Interfran

DIL Limited is a company that offers services to Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical industries. It was formerly known as Duphar-Interfran, however, it was renamed in the year 1963, when the company collaborated with Philips Duphar in order to manufacture and market the pharmaceutical products in the country.

The two most significant pillars of Duphar-Interfran company are to ‘think young’ and ‘move with times’. With these strong beliefs, this age-old company has successfully come a long way and is at presently recognized as one of the top pioneer firms in global pharmaceutical market. It has the capability to meet the demands under the able chairmanship of Mr. G.G. Desai and Mr. Satish Verma.

Seated about 32km away from the city of Mumbai, the company DIL Ltd was set up around 1951 by Dr. D.V.K. Raju. It is spread on an area of 28000 sq. m. The significant events of the company include:

• 2000: Duphar-Interfran focused entirely on Process R&D and Custom Synthesis by de-merging its pharmaceutical formulation business in favor of Solvay.
  
  
• 1995: During this year, the most well known paracetamol called Crocin became the brand of the company in India.
  
  
• 1987: The research work began during this year, which was part of Solvay Pharmaceutical's initiative. A laboratory was established, which was accredited by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research.
  
  


• 1986: A popular Fermenta Biotech Ltd. was founded in order to separately manufacture biotechnology products. This firm was a subsidiary to DIL Ltd.
  
  
• 1980: Solvay Pharmaceuticals took over Philips Duphar around this year.
  
  

According to a recent unaudited financial report of the quarter which ended on June 30th 2008, it was revealed that the subsidiary Fermenta Biotech Limited had entered into an agreement to transfer its throat lozenges business as well as its related non-fixed assets to G.I. Biotech Private Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of DIL Limited. Moreover, DIL Limited deals in treasury operation, property development and motion film production as well as distribution. The company is engaged in the manufacture of wheel chairs, bulk drugs and highly invests in contract research services.
