The biggest expectation and demand of Indian aviation industry from 2010 budget is the status of infrastructure. The industry wants the government to give it infrastructure status in the forthcoming budget. It would help the industry to avail benefits like deductions on profits and gains for 10 years under Section 80IA.

The 2010 budget aviation industry expectations also include rationalization of taxes on aviation turbine fuel (ATF). ATF constitutes more than 40% of the operating cost, comparing to 20% in the whole world. As the Indian aviation industry plays a major role in the economic growth of the country, certain benefits has to be given to the industry in the form of uniform sales tax of ATF.

The industry also expects that, as airlines connects Tier I and Tier II cities, it should get concessions from the government in the form of reduced airport fees and other charges. It also expects a reduction in service tax on first class and business class tickets.
