Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited had begun its operations in 1978 and is one of Asia's biggest manufacturers of chemicals and fertilizers. It has been accredited with OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001:1996 and ISO 9001:2000 certifications.

Chemicals manufactured by Rashtriya are Sodium Nitrite, Methanol, Dimethylacetamide, Ammonium bicarbonate, Ammonium Nitrate, Anhydrous Ammonia, Refrigerant Ammonia, Argon, Methanol, Sulphuric Acid, Methylamines, and Dimethyl Formamide to mention a few.

Rashtriya fertilizer products are Biola, Sujala, Ujjwala, Microla, Suphala20:20:0, and Suphala 15:15:15. A brief description is given below:

• Suphala 15:15:15- Establishes strong roots and the desired crop growth. It is beneficial for cash crops like jute, fruit crops, cotton, and sugarcane, plantation crops like coffee, and tea.
• Ujjwala Urea- Suited for any type of crop and is available in a 50 kilogram white colored bag.
• Sujala 19:19:19- For crops grown in green houses, nurseries, kitchen gardens, pulses, paddy, and wheat.
• Biola- Facilitates easy seed germination, root development, increases yield of crops.
• Microla- Retains quality of the produce and ensures bumper yields.

The Rashtriya group has set up Farmer Training Centers at Nagpur and Thal (Maharashtra) which stress on utilizing new agricultural technologies that increase land productivity and crop yield. Rashtriya social and rural activities include, Dealer training, medical camps, rain water harvesting, agriculture exhibitions, farm labor training, social forestry, youth and women development program, public health and village sanitation program, etc.

Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers Limited has won the Excellence Award for the year 2005-06 and has joined the top10 PSUs club, which is the outcome of its beyond par performance through the years.
