Rural Business Hub Initiative in Kerala had its first meeting in February 2006. The Ministry of Panchayati Raj and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) took up the Initiative of Rural Business Hub in Kerala.

RBH in Kerala has been set up so that it would bring about an all round development of the rural areas of the state. It is based on the Thai model of One- Tambon- One Product (OTOP). Rural Business Hub Initiative in Kerala follows the well-structured concept of Public Private Panchayat Partnership (PPPP).

All this has proved to be advantageous for the rural people of Kerala for their income has increased due to better yields, improved quality, less transaction costs, and entrepreneurship development.
