Electronics Corporation of India Limited was set up in 1967 with the aim to form a strong epidemic foundation for electronics. It belongs to the Department of Atomic Energy under Government of India. ECIL is a multi-disciplinary company which broadly deals with nuclear energy, space, and defense.

The services of Electronics Corporation of India also include communications, electronic security, networking and e-governance sectors. ECIL has invested into various collaboration projects with the nuclear plants in India and exclusively with the Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC), Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), and Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL).
