Popular worldwide for its products like Electral, FDC Limited is a veteran in the pharmaceutical business with an expertise of more than several decades now. It is the winner of Quality Excellence Award consecutively for two years, conferred by the “Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association” (IDMA) in the year 1993 and 1994.

Besides, FDC has also received the “National Award for R&D effort in the industry” by the Department of Scientific Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, Government of India.

Primarily known as FairDeal Corporation, FDC began its operations around 1936. Mr. Anand Chandavarkar was the founder of the company. He set up the company in order to import infant food, drugs and surgical appliances so that these can be distributed in India. Besides, the company started its business with the marketing of vitamins and a host of medical formulations. In fact, the FDC company began its 1st manufacture of formuations in the year 1949. Moreover, around 1963, it started the production of opthalmic formularions in the nation.

The Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) facility was initiated by FDC Limited in 1972. The Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient product (API) plant of FDC is seated at Roha in Maharashtra. It is, in fact, one of the top providers of API facilities in India. Indeed, it is one of the few Indian pharmaceutical companies to receive US-FDA approval in around 1984.

Electral, the most popular ORS to treat dehydration orally, indeed, had revolutionary impact in the market. Even today, Electral is highly used by both urban and rural people. Especially, for people living in rural areas it is a life-savior, where they don't get hospital facilities. Apart from this, FDC pharmaceuticals is credited with some other products such as:

Soyal: It is the first soya-based supplement for protein. It also acts as a milk supplement for infants, those who are lactose intolerant.

Mycoderm: It is a dusting powder to treat skin rashes appearing due to topical climate.

Cotaryl: It is a medicated moisturizer or a cold cream to treat different dry skin problems.

Zifi: It is an anti-bacterial cefixime.

Some of the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) products of the company include Dantrolene Sodium, Fluconazole, Ketoconazole, Bromhexine Hydrochloride, Cinnarizine, Salbutamol Base, Econazole Nitrate, Flunarizine Dihydrochloride, Oxybutynin Hydrochloride Metaxalone and Salbutamol Sulphate.
