Company Background
It's the founder-duo Mr. Asif Khader and Mr. Mukarram Jan who co-founded Cranes Software International Limited in 1991. Initially the Cranes Software operated as distributor of antivirus software in the city of Bangalore. Later in 1993, it moved on from there and became the sole authorized distributor of MATLAB in South Asia. As the third party products distribution business kept on growing, Cranes Software International started establishing partnerships with a number of reputed companies like MicroSim Inc., dSPACE GmbH and Windriver Inc. etc. for distributing their software products in the Indian market. It also signed a reseller arrangement with Texas Instruments for reselling their Digital Signal Processing (DSP) tools in the ASEAN region. It gave the company its very first overseas exposure to have a feel of the international business. Currently, its partnerships have extended to several other IT giants like IBM, InventX, MapuSoft and Mentor Graphics etc.
Cranes Software International Limited started a training division in 1998, when they established Cranes Varsity, which offered post-professional technical training in the domains like Digital Signal Processing (DSP), Mathematical Modeling and Real Time Embedded Systems (RTES) for the academic as well as corporate sectors.
In the year 2000, Cranes Software International Limited acquired the visualization software products of AISN Software, which include TableCurve 2D, TableCurve 3D and PeakFit. In a quick time, it also acquired the award-winning statistical software SYSTAT from SPSS Inc. This acquisition has substantially improved its position in the market with the global base of licensed users soared up to over 64,000.
Cranes Software International Limited went into acquiring the marketing, licensing and development rights for SPSS Inc.'s Sigma product line in January 2004. Next year, it acquired Indian section of Engineering Mechanics Research Corporation (EMRC).
