Indraprastha Gas
Indraprastha Gas (IGL) was established in 1998 and is a joint venture which is being promoted by the BPCL, Delhi government, and GAIL.
The Indraprastha Gas Ltd. has established its monopoly as the supplier of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in the Delhi's National Capital Region (NCR).
Indraprastha Gas Company's objective has been to provide reliable, safe, and convenient supply of natural gas to its various clients in the commercial and domestic sectors and also to provide alternative, environment-friendly, and clean auto fuel to the residents of Delhi.
This has helped to bring down the pollution levels in the NCR region considerably. The commercial and domestic sectors use the natural gas as Piped Natural Gas (PNG) while the transport sector uses Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) extensively.
The Indraprastha Gas Company had started with 1000 consumers for PNG and 9 stations for CNG. The company has grown over the years to an extent that it now has around 154 stations for CNG and employs around 280 people. At present, Indraprastha Gas Company fuels more than 128,000 vehicles that include 35,229 private cars, 11,535 buses, 5,368 RTVs, 70,159 three-wheelers, and 5,686 taxis. It is also supplying energy solutions to embassies, hospitals, restaurants, and hotels. Indraprastha Gas provides on-line gas for cooking to more than 85,000 households.
The Indraprastha Gas Ltd. has continuously adopted the latest technology as a result of which the quality of its products has also improved. The company won the Golden Peacock Eco-Innovation Award in 2006. Indraprastha Gas Company is planning to expand its gas-retail network to the cities like Faridabad, Noida, and Gurgaon.
Indraprastha Gas has been able to satisfy its customers due to the fact that it has always supplied the best quality of products. This is the reason that it has also received recognition from the industry in the form of awards and recognitions.
