Mercedes-Benz India Limited was set up in 1994 as a joint venture between Daimler-Benz and Telco for production and sales of Mercedes-Benz passenger vehicles.

The authorized dealership and authorized service station was inaugurated in 1997. In February 2001, the Mercedes-Benz Production began in India.

In September 2001 Mercedes-Benz India became a 100% subsidiary of Daimler Chrysler India Pvt. Ltd. The manufacturing unit of Daimler Chrysler is located at Sector 15- A, Chikhali, Pimpri, Pune-411 018.
