The total capacity for coal-tar distillation is around 438,000 MTPA. 2 of these plants are in Howrah, 1 in Vishakhapatnam, and 1 in Hooghly. These have made the company the largest manufacturer of high quality pitch in India.
The distillation plants of the Himadri Chemicals & Inds. Company distills coal-tar at very high temperatures and produces pitch, oil, and the various by products of coal-tar. The aluminum industry is the main user of the company's products. Himadri Chemicals & Inds. uses the latest technology for the production of its various products such as a vacuum system and for restricted heating and a heating configuration.
