Himadri Chemicals & Inds. was set up by the Himadri Group and its head office is in Kolkata. Himadri Chemicals & Inds. Ltd was founded so that it manufactures and markets chemicals, specially coal tar and its by-products.

Himadri Chemicals & Inds. has diversified into manufacturing corrosion- protection products and pipe-coating products based on coal tar. Himadri Chemicals & Inds. Company has around 70% of the market share in supplying coal-tar and its various by-products. This shows that the company is a leader in the domestic market. In 2006- 2007, the net sale of the Himadri Chemicals & Inds. amounted to ` 751.70 million and its net profit stood at ` 166.10 million.

The Himadri Chemicals & Inds. has 4 technologically advanced distillation plants for coal-tar production in India. The total capacity for coal-tar distillation is around 438,000 MTPA. 2 of these plants are in Howrah, 1 in Vishakhapatnam, and 1 in Hooghly. These have made the company the largest manufacturer of high quality pitch in India.


The distillation plants of the Himadri Chemicals & Inds. Company distills coal-tar at very high temperatures and produces pitch, oil, and the various by products of coal-tar. The aluminum industry is the main user of the company's products. Himadri Chemicals & Inds. uses the latest technology for the production of its various products such as a vacuum system and for restricted heating and a heating configuration. All these measures have ensured that the products manufactured in the company's plants are of superior quality and of international standards.
