About Chhattisgarh Sugar Industry

Chhattisgarh Sugar Industry comprises of two sugar factories in either parts of the state. The two towns where the sugar factories have been set up for manufacturing sugar are Sarangarh and Khurd. The Chhattisgarh sugar industry is still in its nascent stage and is on the on to develop.

The rainfall in Chhattisgarh is the only factor that drives the sugar industry in Chhattisgarh. The more amount of rainfall in, the better would be the sugar production in the state. Till now, from 1998, the state has witnessed a healthy growth in the sugar industry due to the good monsoon experienced. Though, in the initial days of its growth, production of sugar in Chhattisgarh was bountiful.

In 1982, the Government of India founded a Sugar Development Fund with the sole target of financing the industry for implementing better technologies in sugar manufacturing. Looking at the boosting growth in the sugar industry in India, the Indian government took the decision of including a few more states in India in the production of sugar and thus Chhattisgarh followed the league.

The government of India has approved vast amounts of loans for the progress of the sugar industry in Chhattisgarh. All these factors worked well, and the sugar industry in Chhattisgarh has been growing since then, though the full potential is yet to be realized.

Besides sugar production, Chhattisgarh sugar industry is engaged in sugarcane cultivation at the same time. Sweets and products of sugar are largely consumed in different parts of Chhattisgarh. This has led to an appalling ascent in the sugar industry in Chhattisgarh. Both the sugar factories that are located in Chhattisgarh have a crushing capacity of around 2500 TCD.

Sugar factories are being built in different parts of the country mainly in the rural areas. Rural areas in India are seeing better growth opportunity in the sugar production. Traditional sweeteners and sugarcanes are the most desired products that are highly consumed by mass of the rural population. The dwellers in Chhattisgarh depend largely on the sweet products not only on different festivals but also sweets and other sugar products are a basic stuff which every household prefers to eat. This has been one of the most important factors that have led to the success of Chhattisgarh sugar industry.
