Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd. is a subsidiary of Bajaj Group. It is India's leader in sugar manufacture and ethanol manufacture. The company is headquartered in Mumbai, India. Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd is also known as BHL.
Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd owns ten sugar plants in Uttar Pradesh, India. The ten units have a combined sugarcane crushing capacity amounting to 96,000 tcd per day. The plants are located in the following places.
BHSIL owns a 6,000tcd capacity sugar plant at Pratappur in Deoria district of UP.
Recently, BHSIL has started sugarcane crushing operations in two more plants. These plants are located in the following regions.
Another greenfield plant possessing a 12,000 tcd crushing capacity is set to come up shortly at Utraula in the Balrampur district. Thus, in the year 2007 - 2008 sugar season BHSIL's estimated crushing capacity is slated at around 40,000 tcd.
Bajaj Hindusthan Group as a whole is projected to possess a total sugarcane crushing capacity amounting to 136,000 tcd in the same reference period.
Bajaj Hindusthan Group's distillery unit is capable of producing 800,000 liters of Alcohol each day.
Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd (BHL) is the biggest producer of ethanol in India. The company is a pioneer in the fuel ethanol program in India. At present, Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd. annually produces ethanol amounting to around 34.24 million liters.
BHL has augmented its ethanol producing capacity to about 218 million liters yearly, in anticipation of the increased demand for the product.
In addition, Bajaj Hindusthan Ltd. (BHL) produces 397 MW power from bagasse collected from it sugar mills. After clearing its self consumption needs BHL supplies a significant part of the surplus power (more than 90 MW ) to UP's state grid.
It may be noted that BHL owned subsidiary Bajaj Eco-tec Products Limited or BEPL has already began trial production of eco-friendly MDF and PB from bagasse waste.
