Delhi Development Authority

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) was established in 1957 under the norms of the Delhi Development Act for the promotion and maintenance of the infrastructural development of the capital city of New Delhi and surrounding region.

Ever since its inception, the Delhi Development Authority has been catalytic in the growth and development of Delhi. The growth in Delhi was speedy and organized at the same time – something that was made possible by the DDA.

Objectives of the Delhi Development Authority (DDA):

• Formulation of a Master Plan to ensure the present and as well as the future growth of the city of Delhi
• Promotion and maintenance of the development of Delhi in alignment with the conceived plans
• Acquisition, management, control, and disposition of land property
• Undertaking operations such as engineering, building, and mining

Achievements of the Delhi Development Authority(DDA):

• It has developed lands for industrial, recreational, residential, commercial and institutional use
• It has overseen the construction of residential complexes which has helped nearly half of the population of Delhi to find shelter
• It had designed and constructed the infrastructure for the 9th Asian Games which included a international stadium, a range for shooting, and an exclusive Asian Games Village.
• It has also constructed a number of community centers, local shopping centers, district centers, and other commercial complexes are teeming with commercial activities.

The Department of Planning of the Delhi Development Authority is regarded as the best in the country.

• Zonal Plans for the development of the zones
• Urban Extension Projects for the extension of the urban space
• Traffic & Transportation for improving the transportation system of the city of Delhi
• Other Projects such as the residential plots in Dheerpur and Jasola
• Special Projects such as the development of river Yamuna front and the Amalgamated Freight Complex at Ghazipur
