The Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA) was set up in the year 1995 in the state of Punjab. The Punjab Urban Development Authority is the premier establishment for the urban infrastructural development in Punjab.
Over the past few decades, Punjab has radically developed in terms of industries and commerce. A number of big companies have their development centers in Punjab. The Punjab Urban Development Authority was set up for the sole purpose of providing commercial, residential, and industrial complexes equipped with the modern amenities of the latest technology, in order to cater to the needs of its residents.
The mission of the Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA) is to establish need-specific settlements that will effectively address the requirements of Punjab's residents and also ensure availability of commercial and industrial spaces.
There would be a sewage treatment plant established for SAS Nagar and the Kapurthala Urban Estate would be developed as an example of marvelous development.
Acquisition of land in Jalandhar and Ludhiana for modern urban estates is also being planned and gradually executed by the Punjab Urban Development Authority.

The mission of the Punjab Urban Development Authority (PUDA) is to establish need-specific settlements that will effectively address the requirements of Punjab's residents and also ensure availability of commercial and industrial spaces.
Objectives of the PUDA:
- Promotion and implementation of better methods of planning and development of all the area of Punjab
- Preparing and implementing master plans, regional plans, plans for new townships, and schemes for improvement
- Urban development promotion
- Construction of residential homes
- Promotion of associations, companies, and other agencies for developmental schemes
Developmental works by PUDA:
The developmental works at the sectors such as 66, 67, 68, and 69 SAS Nagar are near completion. Acquisition of land has also taken place for the developmental work in 5 other sectors. The development of Sector 62 SAS Nagar into a superb, modern city center has been undertaken by the PUDA which also seeks to construct the Punjab State Government offices.There would be a sewage treatment plant established for SAS Nagar and the Kapurthala Urban Estate would be developed as an example of marvelous development.
