The present organization is a joint venture between the legendary Tata Group and the Tetley Group of UK. The Tata Tea Company is headquartered in Kolkata, India. Presently, Tata Tea is the world's second largest producer of branded tea.

The Tata Tea operates in forty countries across the world and produces around 30 million kg of Black Tea annually. The company owns 27 tea estates in the Indian states of Assam, West Bengal and Kerala. Further, it has tea plantation facilities in Sri Lanka. Tata Tea is well equipped with a state-of-the-art Research and Development center at Teok (Assam), which works aggressively for the development of branded tea. The production facilities of Tata Tea are ISO 14001 certified for environment management systems and it is regarded as a "super brand" in India. Furthermore it has subsidiaries in USA and UK. Tata Tea has a wide network of distributors of 38 C&F agents and 2500 stockists catering around 1.7 million retail outlets spread across India.
