Nirma Ltd. was set up in 1969 by Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel and it has grown to become one of the leading FMCG companies in India. Nirma Ltd. is mainly involved in the business of producing toiletries and detergents. The company also manufactures a wide range of industrial products.

According to records of 2004, Nirma Ltd had a significant 20% share in the soap segment and around 38% share in the detergent segment. This has been possible due to the fact that the company has always made determined efforts to provide high quality products to its customers at reasonable prices. The company has achieved in toilet soaps, the volume of around 100,000 each year, as in 2004.

The turnover of Nirma Ltd. amounted to ` 2244.11 crore in 2005- 2006 and the next year, this figure came to ` 2539.29 crore. The net profit of the company stood at ` 241.38 crore in 2005- 2006 and the next year, this figure came to ` 109.12 crore. The Chairman of Nirma Ltd. is Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel and the Vice Chairman is Shri Rakesh K Patel.
