Balsara Group was established in the year 1925. Founded by Rustomji Balsara, the company focusses in manufacturing oral care products, insect repellents, air fresheners and household cleaners. Balsara Group is the largest seller of toothpaste all over India and the installation capacity of the toothpaste manufacturing unit is 46,500 metric tons per year. Balsara Group has also gained a commendable position in both domestic and international markets by producing natural, herbal, fluoride, baking soda, tartar-control, gel, sensitive teeth and children's toothpaste formulations. The toothpaste products of Balsara Group have been checked and accredited by British Dental Health Foundation (BDHF).

Balsara Group produces branded products of world-class standard as well as Private Label products and markets them in both the Indian and international markets at relatively competitive rates. The Balsara group is also engaged in manufacturing herbal extracts and complexes under some leading worldwide brands of natural cosmetics namely The Body Shop, Boots, Nutrogena, Avon and Cosmetic Lab of America. The Balsara Group has manufactured Private Label products for some large-scale companies such as Colgate Palmolive, Beecham Group, Henkel Cosmetics and Reckitt & Coleman.

Balsara Home Products became a subsidiary of Dabur India Limited on April 1, 2005 which is the largest manufacturer of Ayurvedic Medicines in the world. Promise Toothpaste is the international flagship brand of Balsara Group and it is marketed in almost 29 countries across the globe. The Group markets its personal and household products in almost 48 countries around the world.
